
Neil Flash, co-chair of the Communiqué Awards, has received the 2026 Healthcare Communiquétor of the Year title for his contributions to healthcare communications and industry leadership.
The honor reflects a career that spans agency and independent roles, where he merged commercial success with strategic influence. Before establishing Ignition Consulting, he held leadership positions that strengthened organizational and team capabilities.
Flash has also advanced healthcare communications as a profession. He served as the Agency Representative on the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA) board, co-chaired the awards program, and contributed to the HCA’s best-practice guidelines for sector partnerships. His efforts aimed to improve industry standards and encourage collaboration among stakeholders.

A strong supporter of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Flash backed initiatives like Black Professionals in Lifesciences and the Break The Silence Initiative. He was also a founding supporter and lecturer for the Taylor Bennett Foundation/HCA program, which works to increase representation in the field. His contributions earned him a spot in the inaugural Independent Impact 50 Awards, recognizing leaders shaping the industry’s future.
Colleagues highlighted his impact. Kayhan Tayarani-Binazir, Global Portfolio Scientific Communications Director at Novartis, stated that Flash’s career has influenced multiple generations, helping new professionals grow while amplifying underrepresented voices. “His coaching has made people in the industry more skilled, resilient, and passionate,” Tayarani-Binazir said.
James Harper, founder of twentyeightb, described Flash as a driving force for DEI. Harper pointed to his advocacy for expanding career access in healthcare communications, especially for Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse professionals. He also noted Flash’s support for gender equity through partnerships with groups like the Break the Silence Collective and Women in Pharma.
“Neil embodies the best qualities of our industry,” Harper said. “After nearly thirty years of witnessing his commitment, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.”
The Communiqué Awards honor excellence in healthcare communications. Previous winners include leaders from global agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and independent consultancies.
The awards committee praised his leadership style, calling it collaborative and forward-looking. His skill in connecting stakeholders has proven valuable during a period of rapid change.
