More than 100,000 young immigrants protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program will soon become eligible to receive federal health care coverage for the first time since DACA was implemented over a decade ago.

The Biden administration will announce a new federal rule Friday allowing DACA recipients to enroll in a qualified health plan through the Affordable Care Act insurance marketplace or become eligible for coverage through a basic health program.

The husband of a Connecticut visiting nurse who was killed during an appointment with a convicted rapist filed a wrongful death lawsuit Monday, alleging her employer repeatedly ignored workers’ safety concerns about treating dangerous patients.

Ronald Grayson sued Elara Caring, its affiliated companies and others over the killing of his wife, Joyce Grayson, a 63-year-old mother of six who was found dead in the basement of a halfway house in Willimantic on Oct. 28. She was strangled and suffered multiple blunt force injuries, authorities said. Elara Caring, based in Dallas, Texas, denies the allegations.

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – Western Dakota Technical College’s medical simulation wing uses “robot patients” to teach students how to care for real people. These robots, known as mannequins, come in a wide variety. They range from a young boy with stomach problems to an elderly man to a pregnant woman – who can actually deliver a robot baby. A favorite among students and staff is Hal, an “8-year-old” who can make several facial expressions and has a bit of a sassy personality. Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis sentenced to 40 months in prison for defrauding NBA’s healthcare plan

Former NBA big man Glen “Big Baby” Davis was sentenced to 40 months in prison on Thursday after it was determined that he defrauded the NBA’s healthcare plan. Davis, 38, was also sentenced to three years of supervised release in addition to the 40-month prison term.

In November 2023, Davis was found guilty of health care fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to make false statements, and conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud. As a result of those charges, the former NBA power forward was facing up to 20 years in prison.

Mass. AG Campbell talks collapse of Steward Health Care, proposed settlement with Hoosic River polluter, campus arrests

This week, a for-profit Texas-based healthcare company under investigation by Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell filed for bankruptcy. People have three weeks to have their say on plans to standardize Urology cancer services across the Black Country and improve patients’ experience.

Under proposals from the Black Country Provider Collaborative (BCPC) – made up of The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust – Urology cancer patients will have their surgery at one designated center, depending on their illness.

Surgery for renal/kidney cancer patients would take place at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, which would become a specialized renal/kidney surgical centre, including robotic surgery.
